This new 4,619 SF Military Working Dog (MWD) Kennel Facility includes room for one kennel master, two trainers, eight handlers, and assigned canine that ensure performance at peak efficiency. The intent of the design and construction was for the kennel to support the Security Forces Squadron while meeting all current standards.

The facility provides for all phases of dog training related to nuclear security, explosive and drug detection. It also includes equipment storage connected to training, mobility, contingency, and VIP protection. The obedience course and classroom areas are used for teaching drug and explosive training safety, canine first aid, and non-handler agitator duties.

The existing MWD kennel failed to meet current Life, Health, and Safety standards for the valuable military working dogs. The new facility includes dog housing consists of eight indoor resident kennels equipped with in-place dog houses, solid dividers, and support space. Support spaces include rooms for food preparation, dog treatment, tack storage, and administrative space. Adequate ventilation, cooling, heating, and minimal noise levels was considered in the design.

The project site is located off Central Avenue and is adjacent to Building 2340.
