Our team was asked to renovate the Security Forces Training Facility, Building No. 437. This one story, 61,800 SF facility serves as the training center for 5th Bomb Wing and 91st Missile Wing security forces personnel and supports the North Dakota National Guard on select weekends.

This project renovated offices, training rooms, and storage space to allow for the consolidation of 83 people, approximately 14,650 SF of storage, and 1,500 SF of training rooms for four other facilities.

The HVAC remodel consisted of reusing existing air handlers, removing and replacing existing VAVs. The existing main duct trunks were reused while all existing branch duct was removed and redesigned for the new floor plan. New Energy Recovery Units were installed to provide a 70% energy savings. Installation of the ERVs was difficult in the existing mechanical room but was accomplished using existing louvers in the wall.

Electrical design provided for new lighting, mechanical, fire protection, plumbing, electrical and communication systems for the building and upgraded the building to comply with anti-terrorism standards.
